Finding “like minded “ people who enjoy working for children with learning difficulties in this vast universe is proverbially like looking for a needle in a haystack. In 2000, I first met Jenny and Beth when they still taught in and managed a regular preschool, The Beginner’s Circle. Although our conversation began simply enough, it probably ended with me talking about how frustrating it was to find “good” services for children with special needs. Somehow, that discussion triggered an advocacy waiting to be tapped. A year later, EdLink was born and I became part of the Board of Directors together with Susan Heinz and Bonita Colony who were educational leaders from the “Slingerland Institute“ and of course, Jenny Tapales and Beth Pascual became its first program directors.

This month, EdLink is celebrating 20 years of service to Filipino children with learning disabilities. It is indeed a milestone that clearly defines what two extremely intelligent and compassionate advocates can achieve. There have been ups and downs of course, and lessons learned in the process but today Edlink continues to promote not only the Slingerland and Orton Gillingham programs but also the Social Thinking platform of Michelle Winner despite challenges brought by the “Covid” pandemic.

I have over the years learned to value Jenny and Beth’s friendship , not to mention, their good company and continue to be truly amazed at their genuine desire to partner with the families and other professionals. It has truly been a wonderful journey that has been a privilege to share with them both. Thank you Jenny, Beth and your new team of Ed Link teachers! Here’s to the next 20!

Happy 20th Anniversary Edlink! Thank you for helping and inspiring our youth all these years!

"One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is a vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child."

― Carl Jung

May you be blessed with more years of heartfelt service to our children and teens!

Dear EdLink,

Congratulations on 20 years! How time really flies when you enjoy what you do!

Thank you for helping my patients overcome their reading and comprehension challenges very effectively.  Your teachers do good and follow the highest standards of work and ethics.  There have been so many success stories with my patients.  Many kids you have handled have gone above and beyond our expectations and have reached goals beyond those that we set for them.  Your center has made a great impact on changing the course of their lives by just helping them in those critical years of learning how to read and analyze written material.

More power to you in the next 20+ years; may your kind multiply.

MESSAGE FOR EDLINK FOUNDATION

CONGRATULATIONS Teachers BETH & JENNY and the entire ED-LINK TEAM for enduring 20 years in this wonderful helping field.  As a pioneer in assisting Learning & Socially or Behaviorally challenged children with innovative interventions, you have helped so many of my patients turn their lives around from what could have been a dismal future.  Your patience and persistence with them has been a model of what it means to plod on till you gain your small but significant successes.

Thank you for being a faithful partner in unlocking the potential of our differently wired children so that their confidence, independence and enthusiasm to become life-long learners is rekindled. Here’s praying we can all stay able and capable of helping even more children and adolescents for another 20 years or more.

As a child psychologist working with children and adolescents in the Metro Manila area, it has been my pleasure to refer many of my patients to Edlink for various kinds of therapy with the purpose to help them boost their reading, writing, math, or executive functions skills, among the others. Based on the feedback that I have received from many parents I have worked with over the years, I have been positively impressed with the quality of the work done by the specialists working at Edlink and I would highly recommend their excellent services.
